The Al-Kafaàt Foundation is a Lebanese development and non-governmental organization governed by a board of trustees and acknowledged by law as an “Institution of Public Welfare”.
Founded in 1957, the foundation delivers its services today to a daily population of 4,500 beneficiaries in 7 different centers, with a working team of 820 employees.
Al-Kafaŕt (Abilities in Arabic) is a founding member of the World Commission on Vocational Rehabilitation (1963), a member of the International Cerebral Palsy Society (1979), a member of Inclusion International (1981), a recipient of The Rehabilitation International Presidential Award (1984), and a three time recipient of the Lebanese Order of Cedars (Knight in 1972, Officer in 1997, and Commander in 2007).

The Antonian Gold Medal to the Founder of Al-Kafaŕt
Metropolitan Philip Saliba, Bishop of New York and Metropolitan of all North America, gave Nadim Shwayri, founder of Al-Kafaàt,the greatest honor from the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America by decorating him with the Antonian Gold Medal. This came in recognition of the efforts and great work accomplished by the Nadim Shwayri and his mission at Al-Kafaàt since 1957, aimed at alleviating misery in Lebanon and rehabilitating the less privileged. The honoring took place during a Gala Dinner organized in New York City by the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America under the patronage of Metropolitan Philip, to benefit children with special needs.

L’Université Al-Kafaàt lance son Institut National du Travail Social (INTS)Dans le cadre de son partenariat avec l’Institut Régional du Travail Social de la Région PACA et Corse, l’Université Al-Kafaàt a lancé son INTS sous le Haut Patronage du Ministère de l’Education Nationale et de l’Enseignement Supérieur.
Ce partenariat permet à l’Université Al-Kafaàt de perfectionner son programme de formation universitaire en Education Spécialisée, déjà approuvé par l’IRTS en France, et de permettre ainsi la meilleure formation de cadres spécialisés au service des centres de réhabilitation Libanais.

The Al-Kafaàt Catering students and trainees all joined forces with Chef Ramzi to tell the world that the famous Hummus is indeed Lebanese. On the Campus of the Al-Kafaàt University, a huge crowd of students, fans and press gathered to witness the production of 10,452 kilos of Hummus – the symbolic number making reference to the surface area of Lebanon. And on the following day, the restless Chefs produced 5173 kilos of falafel, breaking again an unprecedented record.
